Climate Change Ecosystem Change

Climate change is making major changes in ecosystems, such as changes in the life cycle of plants and animals and an increase in sea surface level. According to a studypresented by Patrick Gonzales, U.S. National Park Service in the presentation"Discovering Ways to ADAPT to Vulnerable Ecosystems Impacts of Climate Change" in 2011 the Indonesian-American Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium, Saturday(09/07/2011) in Bogor.

He explained, climate change shifts the time of flowering vegetation and animalmigration. Events indirectly affecting the life cycles of plants and animals, and ultimately, affect the sustainability of ecosystems.

"Indications of climate change double the mortality of trees was also detected in the United States during 1955 to 2007," he explained. "The impact of other large, rising temperatures and sea surface height," added Gonzalez.

Gonzales research looks at various regions around the world. In some areas of theecosystem is experiencing great changes, he says, "more relevant because of climate change than other factors."

This research, according to Gonzales, is expected to provide information and data thatcan be used as a reference in managing methods of adaptation to these changes. "Weno longer possible, the relocation is necessary," he said.
